My favorite band....they got me into music. They have a vast catalogue that dates back to the 1960s. What I like about them the best was how they changed sub genres with every album of the 60s. They went from R&B to Pop to Psychedelic to Rock within 4 years. With Tommy they created their style. They built upon it with synths with Who's Next and the epic Quadrophenia. After that everyone has an opinion of what came next.
I thought that these guys def needed their own topic, especially since Coldplay has one here.

Hhahahahaah legenday maaaan
Well, they're definitely not my favorite band, even though I should admit they were (are?) really big. Just a good band IMO.
Maybe you can recommend me some songs to get me into them more deeply... If it was about U2, I'd like to hear Where The Streets, SBS, NYD, Stay, COBL and Walk On... Apply that for The Who and get me on the way

Baba O' Riley,Pinball Wizard,My Generation, Behind Blue Eyes, See Me Feel Me, Magic Bus, I Can't Explain, and I Can See For Miles are good songs to start with
I have never really taken the time to truly appreciate The Who. I'm not really one for "classic rock", though all respect to it. As far as legendary bands go, U2 is pretty much my fix; I however don't consider U2 to be classic rock, do any of you?
Ooh, good idea Steve!! The Who are one of the best bands of all time, IMO

their live stuff is incredible....PM me for some awesome boots
the who invented arena/stadium rock, believe it or not. u2 invented the b-stage.
the who's famous tours: 1969, 1971, 1973, 1975-1976, and 1982
u2;s famous tours: 1983, 1987, 1992-1993, 1997-1998, and 2001.
i did not count vertigo bc i dont like it and it seemed bono put in not as much effort as expected. please also realize that during the tommy tour/1969 tour the who sometimes played twice an evening, with similar length tours as what u2 has done. the who havent played south america i think, which surprises me. they played spain for the first time in 2007 i think....
its almost equal, the edge going to the who because they were innovators in so many ways live wise (they figured out how to play live with synths/backing tracks in its infancy as one example)
Not being funny Steve but how is that a valid justification for not including it? It was on of their biggest tours alongside ZooTV and PopMart, alright some may disagree that it was as much a success but I still think it's worthy of being up there as far as U2 tours go.
